Copenhagen - The Top Restaurants

The New Nordic Cuisine was coined in 2004 and is one of the key pillars of the Copenhagen food scene, with the Noma, Kadeau, and Geranium restaurants at the forefront. New restaurants like the Alchemist and Jordnaer are taking the top restaurants to a new limit, constantly breaking the art of the possible.

Alchemist

It is one of the most conceptual and playful restaurants in the world, with a balanced provocation to challenge gastronomy.

Jordnaer

Eric Vildgaard is creating creative, delicious and visually stunning plated dishes focusing on fish and shellfish.

Noma

Five times ranked No.1 in the World's 50 Best Restaurants is closing to the end of 2024. So you need to hurry to get a meal.

Geranium

Voted No.1 in the World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2022; So far my favourite restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen - Extended Options

The second selection of restaurants is just as impressive as the top-tier ones but offers easier access, and it won’t strain your budget as much as the top choices. Over time, I went to many restaurants and enjoyed them a lot.

Jatak

Jatak is the brainchild of chef Jonathan Tam, who has worked at some of the best restaurants in the world, such as Noma and Relæ.

Koan

Kristian Bauman's latest restaurant blending Danish and Korean cuisine in a beautiful setting.

Kadeau

Kadeau has two locations (Copenhagen & Bornholm) that give you an unforgettable dining experience.

STUD!O

The studio is led by chef Christoffer Sørensen, who was awarded for his creative and sustainable approach to Nordic gastronomy

Over time, I went to many restaurants and enjoyed them a lot. Alchemist and Jordnær are still on my bucket list for March. Definitely, Kadeau on the beautiful Bornholm island – although not in Copenhagen – is a must and only a 40-minute flight away.

In addition, you need to grab a bite in the morning and go to the Hart Bageri or Juno the Bakery. If you are up for Ramen, visit the Slurp Ramen Joint. The best hot dogs can be eaten at DØP. Finally, don’t forget to eat some authentic Smørrebrød at Selma or Aamanns 1921.
